When in London… go vegan

The vegan food trend has gripped the capital, and there’s a fun new eatery in the heart of the city that is laid-back, fun and healthy.

Everyone is talking about Chloe in London – that is ‘by CHLOE’, as it is formally known – a cool and casual eatery with a new theatre-land outpost.

The Covent Garden-based, canteen-style venue serves plant-based vegan dishes with a fast food feel. That means it’s friendly and laidback – with an added health kick.

While you can pop in to pick up cold-pressed juices or avocado on toast, the restaurant is perfect for a pre- or post-show supper when in town with friends, thanks to its sheer spirit of innovation (the clever twists on traditional meat dishes will get you talking) and opening hours that run until 10pm.

The main menu includes a sophisticated (and vegan) take on macaroni cheese, made with smoky mushrooms and a cashew nut sauce, as well as a tasty Guac burger with a quinoa and sweet potato patty, corn salsa, guacamole and chipotle aioli. Those in the know also order the air-baked fries – and feel virtuous about it. Oh, and the food is gloriously affordable too.
