Go Ape at Alexandra Palace

Opened earlier this year, Go Ape Alexandra Palace, London, is a treetop adventure that will have you tackling daring obstacles and conquering your fears, explains Escape writer Juanita Adu, who took her family on a fun-filled afternoon.

When we arrived, we were instantly put at ease by the Go Ape staff. They must have run through the safety checks hundreds of times, and yet they were friendly and informative throughout, taking their time and giving instructions to the whole family.

Overall, Go Ape has a very relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to go at your own pace, and there’s no obligation to take part in every obstacle if you don’t feel like it. We had a particularly nervous child in our group and a staff member accompanied him around the whole course, offering encouragement every step of the way.

There were some parts of the course that we all found a little daunting, which is part of the fun – pushing your boundaries. The children were largely fearless, though, and put a few of us adults to shame. Afterwards, we all agreed that our favourite part was the zip wire.

It was a fun day out for the whole family and I would definitely recommend it to children and adults alike. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather on the day, so, as Go Ape is situated in Alexander Park, we spent some time recovering in the sun. Bliss!
