Get your skates on! Five awesome ice rinks across the network

These awesome skating rinks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to gliding your way across the network this December. With so many brilliant venues to choose from, it couldn’t be easier to book yourself a slide session this Christmas. Better yet, all the ice rinks can be reached by GWR train.

Natural History Museum

The winter ice rink at London’s Natural History Museum is one of the capital’s most iconic attractions during the festive period, featuring a glittering tree and thousands of fairy lights. There’s even an alpine-style café bar, where you can enjoy a warming drink following a glide on the ice. Tickets must be booked in advance for specific days and adult prices start from £12.65 per person.

Windsor on Ice

Moments from Windsor and Eton Central train station are the pretty Alexandra Gardens, where the annual Windsor on Ice event takes place. This family friendly ice rink is set to draw in the crowds until January 2020 and offers special sessions for children, couples and groups. Adult tickets cost £12.50 plus 50p booking fee online.

Bath on Ice

Nestled in Bath’s beautiful Royal Victoria Park, close to the iconic townhouses of The Circus and the famous Royal Crescent, is the city’s show-stopping festive attraction: Bath on Ice. Experience the thrill of skating under the stars at one of the rink’s weeknight sessions, or book tickets for a day-time skate from 10:30am on weekends or 11:45am Monday to Friday. The price of an adult ticket is £11.50.

Royal Pavilion

Brighton’s very own exotic palace is given the full festive treatment with the arrival of its spectacular ice rink. Celebrate the winter season with a skate on the ice, as colourful twinkling lights glow all around you. Once you’ve worn yourself out, why not head to the Rinkside bar for a delicious snack or glass of mulled wine?

City Hall Lawn

Cardiff’s Christmassy ice rink can be found in the awesome Winter Wonderland at City Hall Lawn. The ice rink has had the ultimate makeover, developed into an exciting Alpine Ice Trail, which takes skaters on a tour of the Winter Wonderland. At 250m-long, it is the only one of its kind in the UK and well worth a visit!
