Everything you need to know about the Chelsea Flower Show

The world’s most prestigious flower show returns, and this year includes a series of gardens focussing on health and wellbeing. Here’s your guide to the Royal Horticultural Society’s big event.

When and where?

The show takes place from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 May, in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, London.

What’s it all about?

Renowned garden designers and floral experts travel to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show every year to curate beautiful outdoor spaces for visitors to admire. Over 165,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event and once in the Royal Hospital Grounds, they’ll find a plethora of green spaces to explore, many of which will focus on themes such as health and wellbeing, mindfulness and the importance of protecting plant wildlife.

What should I see?

As well as educating ticket holders on the power and health benefits of plant life, there will be gardening experts on hand to share fantastic ideas about making the most of an urban garden space. If like many of us, your ‘garden’ is essentially a kitchen windowsill, you’ll likely find these tips very helpful. Explore the Space to Grow exhibitions and be inspired to make the most of whatever outdoor area you have at your disposal.

Anything else?

This year sees the launch of a brand-new evening of live music and entertainment. Part of The Chelsea Late package, this twilight ticket offers full entry to the show on Friday 25 May from 5:30pm onwards before granting access to the magical Ranelagh Gardens at 8pm. Eat your way through the Artisan food market, listen to London’s world-famous Ronnie Scott’s jazz sessions, attend flower workshops and more. This late-night package experience finishes at 10pm.

How do I get there?

If you’re travelling by tube, Sloane Square (on the District and Circle Lines) is your nearest underground station and is a 10-minute walk from the show.
