Adventure and adrenaline: Banff Mountain Film Festival returns to the UK

You don’t need to climb Kilimanjaro to experience the thrill of the outdoors, simply take a brief and relaxing train journey to this annual international film festival, touring the UK, and discover the very best in short films and documentaries about mountain culture and sport.

Banff Mountain Film Festival is a prestigious competition that takes place every year in Banff, Canada, right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. A celebration of mountain culture, the festival lets viewers experience a world of adventure from the comfort of a movie theatre.

Every year, after its Canadian showcase, the festival goes on a mammoth world tour, taking in cities and towns right across the UK, including London, Cardiff, Exeter, Bath and beyond, making stops throughout winter and spring. For venues in the South West, hop on a Great Western train, meanwhile you can enjoy the latest film reviews while you charge your mobile device with an at-seat plug socket.

Watch as intrepid film-makers journey to some of the most breath-taking landscapes in the world and attempt remarkable feats, perfect for viewers who enjoy the outdoors, travel and nature.

The films and documentaries will be shown over two screenings and include some fascinating subjects, such as the 97-year-old long-distance runner George Etzweiler, who competes in commemoration of his late wife, and mountain biker Rajesh Magar who takes to the saddle to explore his homeland of Nepal.
