The UK’s biggest tattoo exhibition on show in Cornwall

Tattoos are all the rage nowadays, but that wasn’t always the case. Find out more about the fascinating history of tattooing in Britain at National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

National Maritime Museum Cornwall celebrates the rich heritage of tattooing in the UK in this fun and informative new exhibition, Tattoo: British Tattoo Art Revealed at. Find out how the art has been transformed over the years, shedding its stereotype as a sailors-only pursuit to become a mainstream mainstay, and hear the stories of those who helped change public preconceptions, such as Britain’s pioneering female tattoo artist Jessie Knight.

The exhibition includes the uncanny exhibit The 100 Hands Project, made up of one hundred silicone arms, each tattooed with an original design by one hundred tattoo artists working the UK.
