Great Western Railway’s Christmas timetable

It’s the final countdown to Christmas, and many of you will be desperate to finish work for the holidays and visit friends and relatives. To help you stay organised over the festive period, here’s the network’s timetable during the coming weeks.

Thursday 21 and Friday 22 December

A normal service will operate. These are the best days to travel, before any work commences.

Saturday 23 December

Some of the platforms at London Paddington will be unavailable, affecting a small number of trains to and from the capital.

Buses replace trains between Reigate and Gatwick Airport.

Sunday 24 December

There will be no trains to or from London Paddington.

Some trains will be diverted into London Marylebone, but these will be limited.

Local trains in the Thames Valley will run as far as Slough, from where there will be various options to continue your journey towards London.

Trains will not call at Southampton Central. Customers should change at Salisbury for Southampton.

Buses replace trains between Reigate and Gatwick Airport.

Monday 25 December

No Great Western Railway services will operate.

Tuesday 26 December

No Great Western Railway services will operate.

Wednesday 27 December

There will be no trains to or from London Paddington.

Some trains will be diverted into London Marylebone, but these will be limited.

Local trains in the Thames Valley will run as far as Slough, from where there will be various options to continue your journey towards London.

Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 December

We only have two of the four lines available on the approach to London Paddington, so a reduced service will operate to and from London.

Buses replace trains between Maidenhead and Marlow.

Monday 1 January

A normal Bank Holiday service will operate on most routes. Trains will start running at around 8am.

Trains will not call at Southampton Central. Customers should change at Salisbury for Southampton.

Buses replace trains between Reigate and Gatwick Airport.

Tuesday 2 January

Our new timetable launches, with new fleets of trains in operation on many routes.
